Orange County CCers fare well in Dayton

DAYTON — Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Eli Peveto captured first-place at the Dayton High School Cross Country Invitational with Bridge City’s Graydon Glover right behind him in second over the weekend.

The Cardinal boys walked away with the first-place team trophy. LC-M finished in fifth place and Orangefield 12th.

LC-M’s Peveto covered the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 44.2 seconds. Glover garnered second with a 18:13.1.

Other Bridge City times and places included Ruben Valencia (fourth, 18:24.7), Kyler Morse (eighth, 18:32.1), Isaiah Maldonado (25th, 19:24.9), Edward Doan (31st, 19:46.4), Adam Mattia (47th, 20:21.4), and Kollin Smith (71st, 21:21.6).

Other LC-M times and places included Rayce Piper (10th, 18:41.4), Blake Kresser (28th, 19:38.1), Cameron Blanchard (54th, 20:36.1), Jackson Baeze (56th, 20:43.0), JC Copely (87th, 22:05.9), and Brad Coutre (112th, 23:16.4).

Joseph Casto led Orangefield, finishing 42nd with a 20:04.4. He was followed by teammates Luke Pennington (57th, 20:47.3), Julian Montayo (75th, 21:29.2), Robby Kearns (82nd, 21:51.5), and Drew Worthy (89th, 22:13.0).

On the girls’ side, Bridge City finished third as a team while LC-M was 12th.

Hamshire-Fannett’s Camille Harris took first-place on the 3,200-meter course, running a 13:32.0.

Brittany Fonville paced the Lady Cardinals, finishing 10th with a 14:59.6. She was followed by teammates Caitlin Denison (14th, 15:16.6), Katy Torbett (25th, 15:59.8), Brinley Bell (54th, 17:03.01), Izzy Brooks (67th, 17:26.6), Valeria Martinez (70th, 17:45.1), and Riley Douglas (85th, 18:34.0).
Olivia Keltz led LC-M, finishing 22nd with a 15:51.2. She was followed by teammates Kylon Gillis (63rd, 17:22.0), Rylee Locke (91st, 19:04.03), Alora Jones (102nd, 20:06.04), and Meghan McKinley (107th, 21:07.04).
