Local runners shine in Rick Miller Classic

VIDOR — The Bridge City Cross Country teams hosted the Rick Miller Classic at Claiborne Park over the weekend.
In Division I boys action, Beaumont West Brook’s Julian Perez covered the course in 10 minutes, 29 seconds to take individual honors. The West Brook boys also won the team title.
In Division I girls, Woodville’s Ella Stanley took first-place with a time of 14:01. Woodville won the team title with Bridge City taking second.
Bridge City’s Caitlin Denison was second with a 14:20 followed by teammates Mackenzie Murdock (fourth, 14:59), Brittany Fonville (eighth, 15:35), Katy Torbett (19th, 19:09), Izzy Brooks (23rd (20:10), Alexa Acosta (24th, 20:57); Kirstie Ellerbee (25th, 22:11), Hannah Hall (26th, 22:13) and Jade Johnson (28.00).
In Division II boys action, LC-M’s Eli Peveto won with a 11:15. Bridge City’s boys won the team title with LC-M taking second.
Peveto was followed by teammates Rayce Piper (fourth, 11:59), Jackson Baeza (11th, 13:02), Cameron Blanchard (12th, 13:10), Blake Kresser (13th, 13:12), JC Copely (16th, 14:23) and Brad Couture ()17th, 14:28).
Graydon Glover nabbed second for Bridge City with a 11:30). He was followed by teammates Ruben Valencia (third, 11:55), Isaiah Maldonado (sixth, 12:20), Kyler Morse (seventh, 12:23), Nolan Moore (eighth, 12:29), Edward Doan (10th, 12:48), Adam Mattia (14th, 13:28), James Pulliam (15th, 13:37), Kollin Smith (18th, 14:33) and Alex Miller (25th, 17:29).
The LC-M girls took first-place in the Division II girls.
Community Christian’s Mary Kathryn Gibson nabbed first with a 13:57.
Olivia Keltz led LC-M, finishing third with a 16:51. She was followed by teammates Kilon Gillis (fourth, 18:07), Rylee Lock (seventh, 18:18), Alora Jones (eighth, 19:46) and Megan McKinley (ninth, 21:09).
Orangefield’s Matthew Rainey took first-place in the Division III boys race, running a 12:44 to help lead the Bobcats to a first-place team finish. Rainey was followed by teammates Ryan Deutsch (third, 13:31), Drew Worthy (fifth, 14:03), Julian Montoya (sixth, 14:10), Luke Pennington (seventh, 14:19), Zach Patronis (eighth, 14:47), Ryan Posey (10th, 15:29) and Trenton Potter (15th, 21:48).
In Division III girls, Orangefield’s Paris Fregia was third (17:36) followed by teammates Bethany Green (fourth, 17:52) and Hannah Lowe (fifth, 17:53.
