Orange City Council honored Orange Police Department Lt. Eric Ellison for his selfless act of kindness on May 24, 2015. Ellison was responsible for notifying the next of kin in a double fatality traffic collision in the 1200 block of Park Street in Orange. Ellison is the officer who informed Kazzie Portie, 18, the loss of his parents. Ellison provided encouragement for Portie to attend his high school graduated just days after losing his parents. Portie did attend the graduation, received his diploma and was greeted on the stage by Ellison.
