Louisiana — On 06/16/2015 at approximately 7:29 p.m., Corporal Chad Booth with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T.) conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria with Tennessee registration, near mile marker 39 on Interstate 10, for a traffic violation.

Corporal Booth approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Sedrick Cummings, B/M, Date of birth: 08/15/1980 of 5917 Summitville Road, Morrison, TN, and the passenger Cynthia Reeder, W/F, Date of birth: 10/25/1977 of 204 Martin Street, Smithville, TN.

Corporal Booth immediately smelled an overwhelming odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Corporal Booth also observed Cummings and Reeder acting suspiciously. Corporal Booth issued Cummings a written warning (Notice of violation) for following too close. Corporal Booth asked Cummings for consent to search the vehicle. Cummings refused.

Corporal Booth deployed his K-9 Sam to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Sam showed a response to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle. Corporal Booth conducted a search of the vehicle and located approximately 10lbs of marijuana lying on the back seat of the vehicle. The marijuana was concealed inside a white plastic shopping bag and wrapped with Saran wrapping.

Corporal Booth advised both subjects of their Miranda rights and placed them under arrest. Both Cummings and Reeder were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for possession of Schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute.
