BRIDGE CITY — After a tremendous run as the head coach of the Bridge City Lady Cardinal softball program, Miste Henderson has stepped down from the post.
It was quite a run in Cardinal Country for Coach Henderson.
In her seven years in guiding the Lady Cardinals, Henderson was part of four district championships. The Lady Cardinals made the playoffs seven times and reached the regional quarterfinals twice.
During her tenure, the Lady Cardinals had 63 players make the All-District team. She was named the district’s Coach of the Year three times.
“The last seven years we have accomplished great things,” said Henderson in her resignation letter. “It has been a privilege as the head softball coach, to represent Bridge City ISD and the community.”
Bridge City Athletic Director Richard Briggs releaed this statement.
“The Athletic Department of Bridge City ISD would like to thank Miste for her years of work and dedication for the student-athletes of BCISD. As evident by the continued success of the program and the numerous Coach of the Year accolades received, we have been fortunate to have her leading our girls. As a coaching staff, we extend best wishes to Miste , Clem, and Jaxson for many years to come. ”
In other news at Bridge City, Darrin Fletcher has been hired as a football assistant and as the Defensive Coordinator for new Cardinal head coach Dwayne Dubois. Fletcher comes over from Vidor where he was an assistant football coach and head softball coach. He helped lead the Vidor Lady Pirates to two straight district championships the last two seasons.
