Special to The Leader
Josh Howard recently attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar held at Texas A & M Galveston on May 29-31, 2015, representing Community Christian School as a HOBY Ambassador along with 200 other high school students from the Texas Gulf Coast Region.
During the motivational weekend at HOBY Texas Gulf Coast, the HOBY Ambassadors took part in hands-on team activities, met leaders in their state, and explored their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a positive impact in their community.
Following a motivational meeting with Dr. Albert Schweitzer during a trip to Africa in 1958, Actor Hugh O’Brian was inspired to establish Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY).  Each spring, select area sophomores from public and private high schools convene at one of the 70 State Leadership Seminars across the country to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to becoming effective and ethical leaders.
At the end of the seminar, the 2015 HOBY Texas Gulf Coast Ambassadors were challenged to give back to society by serving at least 100 volunteer hours in their communities during the upcoming year.
