School’s out, and it’s time to clean out the closets and garages! Vidor Rotary Club is giving folks an opportunity to do just that on June 6. They will host their semi-annual community-wide garage sale this Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Woods Plaza parking lot in the 100 block of North Main in Vidor.
According to Vidor Rotary Club Past President Sally Andrews, “We are getting quite a few folks signed up for booths, so it ought to be a really great day for shopping. We will have lots of books on sale to benefit Alpha Delta Kappa’s scholarship fund, so if you’re a reader or if you’re looking for a nice gift for someone, that’s a good place to start because their books are each one dollar or less. There will also be food out there, provided by First United Methodist Church Mother’s Day Out, so you don’t even have to leave to eat.”
Other booths will feature food, crafts, and of course, garage sale items.
“We always have a lot of really great things for sale,” says Andrews. “If you want a booth and don’t have one lined up yet, you can do that until Thursday.”
Booths are available from Andrews at VISD Administration or at JKeen’s Florist on Highway 12. They cost only $10 and each space is the size of a parking space, 21 feet by 10 1/2 feet. Patrons pay only the $10 to Vidor Rotary Club, and they keep whatever they sell.
“This garage sale supports our green bus Read and Feed program, which takes books and food to Vidor children all year long. We will be giving a free book to any child who wants to come visit the bus on Saturday with a parent, and we have books for children from babies up to high school age. So we urge everyone to come out and see what’s going on Saturday.”
