The Orange County Office Emergency Management will participate in an emergency exercise hosted by DuPont and Invista on June 4, 2015 between 9 – 11a.m. at the Sabine River Works facility on Farm to Market Road 1006. DuPont personnel will serve as Incident Command and lead the joint exercise according to a press release from Emergency Management Coordinator Ryan Peabody.
Conducting such drills are essential in ensuring that private industry, county, and local emergency response is prepared to respond to an actual emergency. Dupont will be testing communication systems, life-saving procedures, road warnings lights and community alarms.
Emergency response vehicles will be dispatched and respond to the scene. In the days prior to the event, and again on Thursday morning, notifications about the event will be broadcast to homes adjacent to the facility.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., facility emergency alarms may be activated and residents located near the DuPont complex could hear these alarms. No action is required by residents or businesses for this exercise.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this exercise may have on our local citizens and appreciate their ongoing support for the emergency preparedness efforts in our community,” Peabody said.
