I am sending this letter in honor of my brother, Robert George Mitchell, of Orange, Texas. My brother is a very proud man and would never write a letter for himself. Robert George Mitchell was born and raised in Orange, Texas and resided in Orange his entire life. Robert is a World War II Veteran and has kept very quiet about it over the years. He was a member, as they refer to them today, as The Greatest Army/Air Force of their Generation. Most of his children re not aware that their father served in World War II. I would like for him to get a little bit of recognition for his service to our Country, if possible, even if it’s just his name in your paper as a Veteran who served in World War II.
He served with the all black Army. Robert is now 88 years old and still resides in Orange, Texas. I am also writing this letter because although e is a Veteran, he has never used any of the Veterans benefits available to him. He pays full amounts for his medications when he should be getting his medications through the Veterans Administration. This letter is to also assist those Veterans who are unaware of the benefits available to them.
My brother has no idea I am writing this letter about him and what a wonderful husband and father he has been over the years. He is the oldest of 12 children born to Percy and Lucy Mitchell, seven of which are still living. I am and always will be proud to call Robert George Mitchell my brother. We salute you brother Robert.
