Flies, equipment repairs top health score demerits this week

Waffle House #824, 2310 State Hwy. 62 in Orange, received a health score of 80 out of a possible 100 during a recent health code inspection. Demerits included the inspector discovering boxes of hash browns sitting in water inside the cooler, several flies, the drain at a hand washing station clogged and other areas in need of repair. The report noted maintenance personal was on location working on repairs to equipment during the inspection.

Score: 84 Demerits included an employee found eating in the prep area, several flies found in the back storage area, and several areas/equipment in need of repair. The health report noted the restaurant is need of cleaning inside and outside of the business and a follow-up inspection will be done.

1600 16th Street, Orange
Score: 89 Demerits included several expired food items on the shelves, no hot water at the hand washing sink inside produce and the floors inside the milk cooler in need of being cleaned of old foods.

Score: 91 Demerits included several gnats and flies found throughout, a hand-washing sink slow draining and the store using a towel inside the drain to prevent water from draining from the sink. The report also noted floors, walls and ceilings were in need of being cleaned and a follow-up inspection will be done.

Score: 90 Demerits included boxes of food stored on the floors inside the walk-in cooler, gnats and flies found throughout and areas around the grill and fryers in need of being cleaned.

Score: 94 Demerits included several flies found throughout the department, floors, shelves and equipment in need of being cleaned of old foods and the need to replaced damaged ceiling tiles as well as repairing the source of the damage.

Score: 92 Demerits included dates need on all products inside the cooler as well as several expired food items on the shelves.

Score: 93 Demerits were for several expired food items on the shelves, and bugs and spiders found inside the freezer in the back storage room.

Score: 96 Demerits were for several expired food items on the shelves and the outside dumpster area in need of being cleaned of old trash and boxes. A follow up will be conducted on the progress of the clean-up.

Score: 96 Demerits were for in need of correcting the issue leading to the hot water flipping the breaker.

Score: 97 Demerits are for the need of a hand-washing sink in the kitchen area.

Score: 97 Demerits were for the need to clean the fryers and around the grills of old grease.
