Orange resident drowns in Louisiana

LAKE CHARLES, La. — A local man drowned late Saturday following a kayaking excursion with friends.

Joshua Moreaux, a 22-year-old man from Orange, drowned Saturday, May 16, following a kayaking trip. According to information from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Moreaux and the group decided to take a break under the Interstate 10 bridge. Moreaux reportedly got out of his kayak and began swimming. One person in the group reported seeing Moreaux struggling to swim and attempted to reach him but was unsuccessful.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Division was called to the scene and located the body shortly before 10:30 p.m., Saturday.
