Pendergast celebrate 50 years

ORANGE — Eldon and Royce Pendergast celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 25, 2013. Eldon and Royce met while attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and were married in the campus chapel in 1963.

After completing his Army service, Eldon began working for DuPont as a mechanical engineer. Eldon's job moved him between Wilmington, DE and Orange, TX. The couple settled in Orange in 1974. Eldon continued to work in various engineering positions at DuPont Sabine River Works until his retirement in 1998. Royce worked as a Speech Pathologist in local school districts, primarily in Little Cypress - Mauriceville, until her retirement in 1998. Royce is an avid naturalist and bird watcher who wrote a weekly article "Nature Notes" for the Orange Leader for over 10 years and continues to volunteer her time generously to various nature programs.

Eldon and Royce moved to Clear Lake in 2010 to be closer to their children, David and Tracy, as well as their grandchildren, Madeline and Frank Fillip. David is a corporate attorney for a Houston energy company. Tracy previously worked as an aerospace engineer and is married to Tom Fillip. Their family has greatly enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time with Eldon and Royce and would like to wish them a very special Happy Anniversary!
