SC man gets 15 years in alleged drug murder plot

LAREDO, Texas — A federal judge has sentenced a Columbia, S.C. man to 15 years in prison for his participation in a cocaine and marijuana trafficking conspiracy.

Marcus Mickle was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to distribute, as well as possession of a firearm. The 21-year-old is the third of seven co-defendants to be sentenced in the alleged scheme.

Prosecutors say Mickle arranged to buy marijuana in Laredo from undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agents posing as members of the Zetas Mexican drug cartel. He also offered to introduce them to Lt. Kevin Corley, who said he was an active-duty officer in charge of training soldiers.

Corley and Sgt. Samuel Walker are also charged with accepting an offer from the DEA agents to kill rival gang members.
