ORANGE — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2775 and The Ladies Auxiliary are once again hosting the Voice of Democracy contest for students 10th, 11th and 12th grades across Orange County.
The Patriot’s Pen contest is for students in sixth, seventh and eighth-grades and the Outstanding Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year competitions, which is for teachers in grade levels Kindergarten through fifth grade, sixth through eighth-grade and ninth through twelfth-grade, are also being held.

Awards being presented in the Voice of Democracy contest include scholarships valued at $300 and $200 each, which will be issued when a student enters an institution of higher learning. Prizes for the Patriot’s Pen are checks valued $50, $75, and two valued at $100 each.
The winner in each category for the Teacher of the Year award will receive a $100 check. First place winners in each category will advance to the district level. The district winners will advance to the state level and the state winners will advance to the national level.
