The community of Orangefield remains under a boil water notice following a weekend pump failure.
Customers of the Orangefield Water Supply Corporation are still under a boil water notice following what was described as a water pump failure on Sunday, Feb. 17. Results have reportedly been submitted to the proper officials and officials are hoping the boil water notice can be rescinded early Thursday, if results are approved.
The initial problem began at approximately 9 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, when customers began reporting low water pressure to officials with Orangefield Water Supply.
It was later determined that either a pump failure, or a motor failure on the pump, had been the culprit behind the low water pressure and a boil water notice was then issued.
Water is safe to use for bathing purposes and watering plants, but must be boiled for consumption or cooking. All customers should boil water vigorously for at least two minutes prior to drinking water, using it for cooking or for making ice.
