Harold Leigh benefit set for Sunday

ORANGE — A benefit is being held this Sunday to assist two children who lost their father in a tragic accident this past September.

A benefit will be held from noon - 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, at Cotton’s Cay, 8379 N. State Highway 87 in Orange, to assist the children of Harold Leigh, a native of Orange and resident of Mauriceville. Leigh suffered extensive head trauma and a brain injury in a automobile collision on Sept. 9, 2012, in Mauriceville, and died on Sept. 14 while in ICU at an area hospital.

Leigh, 29, left behind two children, Zachery, 12, and Lexie, 13. He grew up in the Forest Heights addition in Orange and worked at Crumpler’s Shipyard at the time of his death. The benefit on Sunday will assist the children and in covering medical expenses.

The fundraiser will also featuring a live auction with renowned auctioneer Walt Cade, as seen on Texas Storage Wars. Barbecue plates will also be for sale, as will desserts. There will be raffles, bracelets, prizes and even a “Fun Run” which begins at 11 a.m., Sunday, with kickstands up at 12:30 p.m.
