Christmas is just around the corner, and one local organization is ready to assist those in need.
The Salvation Army of Orange County will begin accepting applications this week for those needing assistance this holiday season. Applications can be submitted at the Salvation Army offices, located at corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Strickland in Pinehurst, from 9 a.m. - noon, Monday, Oct. 22 through Thursday, Oct. 26, and Monday, Oct. 29 through Thursday, Nov. 1.
Everyone seeking assistance must provide documentation for verification. Documents required with the application include the social security card of the person seeking assistance for toys for children, a birth certificate for each child listed up to age 12, proof of residence and proof of income. Those seeking assistance must have custody of each child listed on the application.
Each approved applicant will also receive a food basket for a delicious holiday meal.
Applications are also being accepted at the Salvation Army for Christmas baskets for senior citizens who are age 60 and older.
