ORANGE — Trussell benefit

A benefit for Carl “Bub” Trussell, a heart transplant patient, will be held from noon - 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at Cotton’s Cay in Orange. BBQ plates are $8 and include brisket, sausage, potato salad, baked beans, bread, onions and pickles. A live auction will be held, as will a 50/50 drawing, and raffle items are available. Live music will be provided by Choctaw from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.


Vendors needed

The Bridge City Heritage Festival will be held from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Bridge City Community Center and surrounding grounds. The carnival will also be held from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28.


Little Brig Camp

The Vidor High School Brigadettes will hold a Little Brig Camp from 9 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Sept. 29, at Vidor Elementary for girls in grades kindergarten through sixth. Cost is $30 per child. Show-offs at 11:30 a.m.


Saturday Adventure Series

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park Ave. in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29. “Wild and Rich Wetlands” is a family program presented by Kaycee Dortch and will aid visitors in discovering critters that live in the swamp mud. Attendees will also play games to understand the important role of swamps. RSVP is required. Call 409-670-9799.


58th Class Reunion

The Lutcher Stark High School of Orange will be having its 58th Class Reunion on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 at Sunset Grove Country Club in Orange. Letters have been mailed and notice via e-mail has been sent to those on file. Reservation deadline is Aug. 15. Community Sidewalk Sale

Thrift and Gift Shop, 350 N. 37th St. in Orange, will hold a community-wide Sidewalk Sale from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. Covered spaces measuring 10’ x 12’ are available for $12 each. Clean out your closets and garages and make extra money. Call 409-886-7649 for info or to reserve a space.

    Texas 4-H Youth and Development 2014 Salute to Excellence Honoree is Kathy Hester of Orange County. Mrs. Hester has been a part of 4-H for over 30 years. She is the club manager for the Mighty Pirates 4-H in Vidor.
