ORANGE — Mathews benefit

A benefit will be held for cancer patient Dorothy Mathews of Vidor starting at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 20, in the parking lot of Market Basket in the 800 block of North Main Street in Vidor. Mathews is battling liver cancer and is on the transplant list. Proceeds will provide assistance with prescription medication. BBQ plates are $8 each and consist of brisket, link, potato salad, beans, and bread. Desserts and beverages will also be available. Donations welcome.

BAL Art Camp

The Beaumont Art League, 2675 Gulf St. in Beaumont, will hold a summer art camp for children ages 6-12 years. Sessions will be from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., July 15 - July19 and July 22 – July 26. Cost is $75 for one or $150 for both sessions. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. Register at or e-mail or call 409-833-4179 for more information.

Red Hot Flashers

The Red Hot Flashers of the Red Hat Society will hold its monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18 at the Mongolian Grill on Edgar Brown Drive in Orange. Ladies will bring a small door prize. There are no birthdays this month. All ladies are welcome. Call 409-886-1609 for info.

Pastor Appreciation

The Starlight COGIC church family, 2800 Bob Hall Road in Orange, invite you to join them for their 26th Pastor’s and Wife Appreciation Service from July 18 - July 19, and July 21. Guest speakers include Pastor Larry Brooks, Sr. from Full Gospel Holy Temple in Orange, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18; at 7:30p.m., Friday, July 19, is Pastor William Wilson from Jones Memorial COGIC; and for the conclusion of the matter at 3:30p.m., Sunday, July 21, is Pastor Herbert Winston from White Rose COGIC in Port Arthur. Rev. E.B. Lindsey is Pastor and Missionary Josie Lindsey is First Lady.

SETX Stamp Club

The Southeast Texas Stamp Club will meet 7 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at the Mid-Jefferson County meeting room, 7965 Viterbo Road in Nederland. Exit to the Jack Brooks Regional Airport, pass the Chevrolet Sales and take the first right by the License Center, come to the end of the road and turn left, it will be the 2nd building on the left. All meetings are followed by auctions and swapping of stamps. Visitors are welcome, childrern who visit will be given free stamps to start or add to their collection.
