Local businesses donate for charitable golf tourney

ORANGE — A local organization with a history for helping others received a big boost itself on Tuesday thanks for a generous donation in advance of its annual fundraiser.

Orange Christian Services (OCS) received a $5,000 donation on Tuesday morning from Ross and Eva Smith of Akrotex, Inc. and David Self Ford. A check presentation was held on Tuesday morning inside the lobby of David Self Ford and will be used to assist OCS get an early start to its yearly fundraiser.

Smith, who was recently honored by the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce with a celebrity roast in August for his support of local charitable organizations and the community, has been the title sponsor every year the golf tournament has been held.

Orange Christian Services is a local non-profit organization, which provides support to residents of Orange County through a variety of services. OCS is celebrating its 34th anniversary this month.

The 18th annual golf tournament is being held Saturday, Oct. 5 at Sunset Grove Country Club in Orange. Call Orange Christian Services at 409-886-0938 for more information on its assistance programs and its golf tournament this Saturday.
