ORANGE — The precinct 3 equipment storage building suffered damages during the Christmas day storm.

Frankie Walters and Clark Slacum, county engineer, met with an insurance adjuster to access the damages.

The roof and eastern wall will need to be replaced.

Slacum told Commissioners Court he was at the building on the day of the storm to turn the electrical off at the breaker in case there was more severe damage.

“There was no equipment damage,” Jody Crump, commissioner pct. 4 asked. “Just structural?”

Slacum confirmed it was just structural damage. The roof was blown off and the eastern wall was rocked out of shape from the strong winds.

“There are big skylights now,” County Judge Carl Thibodeaux joked.

The total damage is estimated at $4.600 and there is a $1,000 deductible for the insurance.
