Lawson Cox earns Eagle Scout Medal

LITTLE CYPRESS — Lawson Cox earned the rank of Eagle Scout on December 13, 2013. He is the son of David and Pam Cox of Orange and is a Senior at Little Cypress Mauriceville High School. In addition to Boy Scouts, Lawson is a member of the LCM Band, Jazz Band, National Honor Society, UIL Math Team, and Key Club.

Lawson has been active in scouting since joining in the 4th grade. He is a member of Troop 23 in Orange, Texas. Troop 23 is chartered with First Baptist Church - Orange. He has been led by Scoutmasters Joe Mann Cheek (deceased) and Tom Brzezinski.

Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a challenging process. Along with many campouts, service hours, merit badges, and scouting events; Lawson had to plan, organize, and lead an Eagle project. His project was done at North Orange Baptist Church in Orange where he attends with his family. Lawson's project was to rebuild the church's Prayer Garden. The project took 130 hours and was completed in October, 2013.

Lawson would like to thank his church family, friends, teachers, and fellow scouts for their support during his Eagle project. He received his Eagle Medal on May 4th, 2014 at the Eagle Court of Honor held at his church.
