Filings for May elections begin today


ORANGE — City of Bridge City

Four positions are open for filing in Bridge City this year.

Seats currently held by Mayor Kirk Roccaforte, and councilmembers Mike Reed, Place 2; Eric Andrus, Place 4; and Danny Cole, Place 6, will be open for filing beginning today.

City of Vidor

Vidor residents have elected many new faces to the city council over the past three years, and, this year, three seats are open for filing.

Terms are expiring for councilmembers Jay Odom, Ward 2; Jason Woodard, Ward 3; and Gary Herrera, Ward 5. Potential candidates may call Vicki Watson, city secretary, at 409-769-5473 for more information.

City of Rose City

Information for the City of Rose City was not immediately available due to the approaching winter weather system.

City of Pine Forest

Information for the City of Pine Forest was not immediately available due to the approaching winter weather system.

West Orange-Cove CISD

The West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District will have two seats available for filing on the Board of Trustees this year.

At-large positions currently held by board members Tony Dallas and Andrew Hayes are open for filing. Interested residents of the school district may contact Bonnie Tegge at 409-882-5500 for more information.


The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District will have two seats available for filing starting this week. Seats currently held by Randy McIIwain, Position 1, and Marlene Courmier, Position 3, are open for filing.

Bridge City ISD

Only two seats are up for filing this election year at Bridge City ISD.

Terms are expiring for Trustees Michael C. Johnson, Place 6, and Mark Anderson, Place 7, this year. Interested candidates may contact Jean Magnuson at 409-735-1511 for more information on filing.

Vidor ISD

Residents of the Vidor Independent School District have elected several new members to the school board since 2011, and two of those seats which started the big changeover are up for election this year.

Seats held by Kimberly Crossley and Michael Helms, Position 6 and Position 7, respectively, are open for filing to Vidor ISD residents. Interested candidates by contact Debbie Munoz at 409-951-8714.
