ORANGE — Cormier Museum

The Orangefield Cormier Museum, located near Orangefield High School on FM 105 in Orangefield, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19.

Genealogical society

The Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Carnegie Meeting Room, 411 Pujo St. in Lake Charles, La. Contact Pat Huffaker at 337-477-3087 or e-mail patswlgs@bellsouth.net for info.

Garage and Bake sale

The American Legion will have a garage and bake sale from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19. We appreciate any donations for the garage sale. We need hangers if anyone has any. Donations can be dropped off at 108 E. Green Ave. at the America Legion Hall. Pastor Appreciation Service

The officers and members of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Orange cordially invite the community to celebrate their pastor’s 44th year of dedicated service with an appreciation service will be held in honor of Rev. and Mrs Calvin Coolidge Jones at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20. Dr. Stanley T. Hillard and his congregation from St. Luke Baptist Church in Houston, Texas is the guest for this occasion. Call the church office at 409-886-2089 for info.

Chamber banquet

The Vidor Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Membership Banquet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 1600 N. Main in Vidor. Tickets are $25 or a table of six for $150 and must be purchased in advance. Call 409-769-6339 for info or to charge by phone.

Best of Best Gospel Fest

The Best of the Best Gospel Fest will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at Joe Ware Plaza in Orange. Tickets are $15 and includes meal. Call 409-883-2611 for tickets and information.

Vidor Rotary

The Vidor Rotary Club meets at noon, every Monday, upstairs in the Capital One building on North Main Street.

    Texas 4-H Youth and Development 2014 Salute to Excellence Honoree is Kathy Hester of Orange County. Mrs. Hester has been a part of 4-H for over 30 years. She is the club manager for the Mighty Pirates 4-H in Vidor.
