BRIDGE CITY —
Lucy Fields is ready to continue the positive trend in the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce.
Fields will serve as the next President of the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce after she assumes the office at its annual “Taste of the Bayou” dinner banquet on Monday, Jan. 13. The dinner banquet will be held at the at the new Orange County Convention and Expo Center at 11475 FM 1442 in Orange. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for individuals at the door.
Fields, 63, has been part of the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce for approximately four years. She is married to her husband of 44 years, Don, the former city manager of Bridge City. The couple have three daughters, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Fields will take over for outgoing President Brandy Slaughter.
“It’s going to be hard to fill her shoes,” Fields said. “Brandy has done such a great job of putting the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce back on the map. It’s growing and we’re better than ever.”
Fields said her plan is simple and straightforward, which is to continue the momentum Slaughter has started during her term.
“A lot of businesses have joined the chamber, and a lot of new people attend our monthly networking event, the monthly coffee as we call it,” she added. “I want to continue to let the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce showcase our businesses and help them to convince people to shop Bridge City.”
Fields stated she has some ideas she wants to research and possibly implement, with board approval, to help the chamber have another successful year. However, she is not ready to divulge that information publicly.
“I believe these ideas will help increase awareness about the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce and its members,” Field said. “And with the Board of Directors we have in place, we think big things are ahead for Bridge City. We’re proud of our city and its people, and the businesses we serve.”
