AUSTIN — Testimony was set to begin in the capital murder trial of a 23-year-old Waco man accused in the shooting deaths of two people last year.
Ricky Cummings faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole if convicted of capital murder. Testimony is expected to start Monday in state district court. Cummings is accused in the March 2011 shooting deaths of 17-year-old Tyus Sneed and 20-year-old Keenan Hubert at an apartment complex.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that (http://bit.ly/VuqABU ) Sneed and Hubert were sitting in the back seat of a car when multiple suspects allegedly opened fire. Two other men in the front seats suffered multiple gunshot wounds but were able to flee.
Judge Ralph Strother says he expects the trial to last at least two weeks.
