DALLAS — Four veterans with no relatives to claim them have been buried with full military honors following a funeral service in Dallas.

The ceremony was held Wednesday at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Department of Veterans Affairs officials say they couldn't locate relatives for three of the veterans in their 60s and 70s, including one who'd been homeless.

VA officials say one veteran who died last week had been estranged from his family for decades.

At the service, American flags were presented to their friends and a VA outreach worker.

The Rev. Billy W. Corn, a chaplain for the Texas State Guard, said the service was held to honor the greatest treasures of the state and nation.

The burial services were provided by the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program.
