Houston man, 49, dies in industrial explosion

Associated Press

ROSENBERG, Texas — Investigators say a Houston man has been killed in an industrial explosion as he used a cutting torch to work on some barrels.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified the victim as 49-year-old Feliciano Ramirez Puerta. Authorities say Puerta was dead at the scene Saturday in the accident in the Rosenberg area.

An employee of SCR Construction told authorities he was working in a building when an explosion shook parts of the structure. The man stopped to investigate and found Puerta on the ground next to a metal barrel. Officials say the barrels were marked as containing a cleanser.
