Joyce Mitchell Curlee
Joyce Mitchell Curlee, 88, of Orange, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at Answered Prayer Private Care Facility.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2006, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Terry Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vidor.
Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday and again on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Born in Galveston on August 18, 1918, she was the daughter of Elton Louis and Carrie Olive (Cockrell) Mitchell.
Mrs. Curlee had lived in Orange for the past 46 years and was a retired teacher with the West Orange-Cove CISD. She was a member of the Theapsi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; the Orange County Retired Teacher’s Association; Golden K Kiwanis Club and First Baptist Church in Vidor.
Preceded in death by her husband, Hubert W. Curlee, she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Cowgill of Houston and Patrick Stallings, Sr. of Austin, Henrietta and Dean Gentry of Orange; sister, Laura Walton of Baytown.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carrie Osman-Marin and her husband Alfredo, Laurie Noteboom and her husband Steven, Deana Joseph and her husband Lijo, Anna Bandy and her husband Scott; six great grandchildren and one expected great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bandy, Jay Todd Cleaver, John Foster, Lijo Joseph, Steven Noteboom, and Patrick Stallings, Sr.
