There are three persons in the Godhead

ORANGE — Here is an absolute fact: the word TRINITY cannot be found anywhere in the Old or New Testament. This word is NOT in the Bible. Because this is true it causes a great division and misunderstanding among some church denominations, filtering out among individual Christians of both persuasions—Jesus Only and Trinitarian-- who feel a need to debate the matter.

The question is: do you believe there is one God named JESUS—or one God known as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit? Trinitarians believe the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--are three distinct personalities who is one GOD in three persons while others believe the Godhead is one, namely Jesus, who is at the same time the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They may otherwise be called Jesus Only, Jesus Name, or simply Oneness people while the former are known as TRINITARIAN. I believe in the Trinity—God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Spirit—not three God’s but three persons who constitute the Godhead, each with a distinct personality who always act in perfect unity and harmony, who are together one God.

The Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible but there are ample allusions, references and suggestions that readily apply to its existence making me and others believers. For example: Isaiah 5:8, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Notice the distinction between “I” and “Us.” And again, God said, “Let us make man in our image" (Genesis 1:26). If there was only one Person in the Godhead, do you think He would use the words "Us" and "Our?" Would it not be more reasonable for God to say, "I will make man in My image"? (See also Genesis 1:22). We also are made in the image of God. He created us a tripartite being with Body, Soul and Spirit. We too are a trinity made in the image of God.

Among a score of references in the New Testament the baptism of Jesus stands out.   “. . . Jesus also was baptized: and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, ’You are my beloved Son: in You I am well pleased’” (Luke 3:21,22). Jesus is baptized; the Holy Spirit descends; the Father confirms. Blessed trinity.
