Special to The Leader
The Orange Leader

ORANGE — First United Methodist Church of Orange will present its Wesley Player’s production of “The Living Last Supper” at 7 p.m., Thursday March 28 in the Praise Center, located at 503 Fifth St. in Orange. The public is warmly invited to attend this brief but very moving re-creation of Leonardo DaVinci’s famous fresco, “The Last Supper.”

Holy Communion will be served to all believers and followers of Jesus Christ who wish to receive it at the conclusion of the performance. The United Methodist communion is always open to all believers, regardless of denomination or even lack of the same.

The Wesley Players’ cast includes many of the finest dramatic performers in the area such as Rico Vasquez, Kevin Doss, Justin Sanders, Al Vasquez, Doug Rogers, Chris Abshire, James Rogers, Kenneth Wiemers, John Warren, Paul Burch and others.

Each of the disciples will quicken and speak their mind in light of Jesus’ revelation to them, just a moment earlier, that “one of you will betray me.” This was the perspective from which DaVinci painted the original fresco 400 years ago in Milan, Italy.

The performance is presented free of charge to the public as a Holy Week worship opportunity and is less than an hour in length.
