Magazines, TV and newspapers all know that things seen become things wanted.  What we set our eyes upon, we end up having to have.  An African village was prospered by a factory built nearby.  At first a small pay check was enough to last for months, but it wasn’t many months before their pay was not enough.  What happened?  The women were given catalogs and magazines.  What they saw they wanted, and ended up needing.

When I quit flying and sold my interest in the plane I was flying, it was several years before I stopped longing to fly.  I found out as long as I subscribed to “Kit Planes” I desired to fly.

If your Christian walk is difficult, if you are tempted with sexual lust, the need for more stuff, or wonderful vacations, check out what you are looking at.  Serving God isn’t hard.  Controlling our appetites is not difficult if we set our eyes on Christ.  We are drawn to Him, we become obsessed with Him, not the things of this world.  But we choose to watch TV ads, look at magazines and catalogs until we are hooked on materialism.  I John 2 calls the love of material things a roadblock to loving God.  It says the love of the Father is not in the things of this world.

Your sinful habits will hold you.  What you look at will end up being your downfall.

Hebrews 12:2-3 "”Let’s fix our eyes upon Jesus” you will not grow weary or lose heart.  The solution is not rebuking the enemy, it is looking at Jesus.  What are you looking at?  You don’t have to try to answer that question.  Just see what you desire, what motivates you, or what you think you need to make your life complete.

You will desire what you see.  SET YOUR EYES UPON JESUS.”
