Mothers of Preschoolers charter opens in Orange

Mothers of Preschoolers, affectionately known as MOPS by mothers around the world, will have a new local charter in Orange, Texas. MOPS is an organization created to support mothers of children ages birth to kindergarten as they engage in the aspects of motherhood.

The gathering of the new charter of MOPS will occur once a month began Aug. 27 and will continue every third Thursday from September through May from 9:30 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church Orange with childcare provided.

Motherhood can bring along a variety of joy, confusion, pleasure and exhaustion. MOPS provides an atmosphere where mothers can share their stories and learn from one another discovering they aren’t alone in their experiences. As mothers attending MOPS meet once a month, they find that they can develop new adult friendships where they can communicate in complete sentences and eat without interruption.

MOPS provides a supportive environment among other mothers that allows for mental and physical “batteries” to be recharged. And most of all, MOPS generates inspiration from other mothers that meet each other’s needs not only as a mother but also as a woman and a friend.

During this time of discovery for the mothers, there is also discovery time for the children as they receive skilled adult supervision through childcare at the same church location.

Although there are four other MOPS charters in the Golden Triangle, this will be a new charter in Orange. First United Methodist Church Orange is located at 502 N. 5th St.
