Vidor man arrested for possession of methamphetamine

VIDOR — A man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance when Orange County’s Sheriff’s Office deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle at  approximately 2 a.m. Sunday at the 500 block of Four Oaks Ranch Road in Vidor.

Darryl Bergeron, 31, of Vidor,  was arrested possession of a controlled substance when a deputy saw him drop a plastic baggie that contained a crystal like substance, recognized by the deputy to be methamphetamine.

Two persons in the vehicle were shuffling around inside as if they were trying to hide something in the front floorboard or under the seats as the deputy approached the car according to a press release.

When the deputy walked up to the vehicle, he noticed a small plastic baggie in plain view on the console.

The deputy said he could also smell a strong odor of what smelt like a chemical burning.

When Bergeron, who was seated on the driver's seat, was asked to step out of the vehicle, he dropped a baggie containing methamphetamine.

Bergeron was booked into the Orange County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a 3rd Degree Felony.

Bergeron was arraigned on Sunday and his bond was set at $5,000.

Bergeron was able to bond out of jail and is no longer in custody.

Sheriff Keith Merritt said the Orange County Sheriff's Office will continue to aggressively seek out and arrest those who use and sell illegal drugs in our community.
