The City of Pinehurst Police Department arrested a man Thursday in connection with the November 7, 2012 robbery of the Dollar General Store, 2500 MLK Jr. Drive, Pinehurst.
Chief Fred R. Hanauer III of the Pinehurst Police Department announced Mark Nathan McLelland, 59, of Orange, has been arrested for Aggravated Robbery of the store.
Store personnel informed police that a unidentified white male came into the store and was making a purchase at the register. When the employee opened the register to make change, police said the man then “produced a black semi-automatic pistol and threatened the employee” before taking the cash from the register and exiting the store, according top a previously published article in The Oraneg Leader.
Chief Hanauer, along with Lt. Keith Reneau, Pinehurst officers and Precinct 2 Constable David Cagle, served an arrest warrant at the 3800 block of Cochran Street in Orange.
McLelland was recently indicted by an Orange County Grand jury for the crime according to a press release from Chief Fred R. Hanauer III.
McLelland is incarcerated in the Orange County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
Aggravated Robbery is a 1st degree felony and is punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
