Two arrested for stealing travel trailer

BRIDGE CITY —  On Thursday, May 22, 2014, around 7:20 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a stolen travel trailer from the 3100 block of Texas Avenue near the Bridge City area of Orange County.  The travel trailer had been parked on the previous date near a business that had video surveillance.  Upon reviewing the recorded video, it was discovered that a white male and white female drove up to the travel trailer in a white Ford SUV sometime around the late afternoon daylight hours of Wednesday, May 21, and then  returned several hours later after dark.  When they returned the second time, they hooked up to the trailer and drove off.

While a Deputy was reviewing the video recordings, information was passed on to other patrol Deputies in Orange County.  Around 8:00 a.m., a Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy working in the north Vidor area of Orange County spotted a travel trailer being pulled by a white Ford SUV.  It was northbound on FM 105 heading into Jasper County.  Once the Deputy got close to the trailer, he could read the license plate and determined it was in fact the stolen trailer.  He followed behind the trailer headed northbound while Dispatchers notified Jasper County that the Orange County Deputy was behind the stolen trailer.  The Orange County Deputy was able to stop and detain the white male and female on FM 105 in Jasper County.  Jasper County Justice of the Peace Debbie Berry arrived on scene to hold a hearing enabling the Orange County Deputy to detain both subjects and transport the two back across the county line to the Orange County Jail.

The white male was later identified as 33 year old Jacob Lee Childree of Stowell, Texas.  The white female was identified as 35 year old Amanda Brooke Manuel of Buna, Texas.  Both were booked for 3rd Degree Felony Theft and remain in custody with no bond, awaiting arraignment.  The owner of the travel trailer was able to recover his property.
