The possession of controlled substances or being under the influence lead to the arrest of three individuals in Orange. A woman and a man were arrested Tuesday in separate incidents and one woman was arrested Wednesday.
A vehicle parked at approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near Old Highway 90 and Lindenwood in Orange led an Orange Police Officer to stop to check on the welfare of the occupants according to police reports.
A female, 19, told the officer she had been drinking when questioned. She displayed glassy, bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady on her feet when she exited the car.
The woman was arrested for public intoxication.
A report of a female driving while intoxicated at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday lead an City of Orange officer to the area of Strickland Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The officer observed a man driving the vehicle at the time and saw the car pull into a private driveway.
The vehicle left a few minutes later driving on the shoulder of the road with a female driver.
The officer stopped the vehicle at the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The officer discovered two prescriptions for a third person not in the vehicle in the purse of the female driver. The number of pills compared to the date of the prescriptions were filled did not match. The officer also discovered two open containers of beer inside a closed cooler in the car.
The male passenger was advised to pour the beers out.
The woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
The car, a rental, was released to the rental company.
An assault in progress sent an officer to the 1700 block of 16th Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a man assaulting a female at an area restaurant.
Dispatch said an officer was in the building asking for assistance due to the possibility the suspect was under in influence of PCP.
A few citizens had the man detained inside the restaurant when the second officer arrived according to police reports.
The man, 27, was arrested for public intoxication for posing a threat to himself and to others due to screaming random words, appearing out of touch with reality and large, dilated pupils.
