The Orange Leader
A fiery vehicle collision has claimed the life of twin brothers.
Johnny Leslie Barton of Joaquin, Texas, and his twin brothers, Rohnny Lee Barton of Beaumont, both age 42, died late Monday as a result of a two vehicle collision on Interstate 10 in Orange.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Barton brothers were traveling west on the Interstate 10 service road shortly after 8:15 p.m., Monday, in a 1997 Dodge truck. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Dodge truck lost control, crossed the westbound lanes, struck the crash cable system in the median and entered the eastbound lanes where it was struck by a 2006 Volvo semi-truck.
Following the collision, the Dodge pick-up caught fire. Both Johnny and Rohnny Barton died at the scene. Judge Janice Menard, Orange County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, ordered an inquest.
The driver of the Volvo tractor trailer, James Chrisman of Tennessee, did not suffer any injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
