Police investigating possible drowning

ORANGE — A man’s body was recovered from the Sabine River after several hours of searching.

Orange Police Department responded to a possible drowning just after midnight Friday morning at the City of Orange Boat Ramp located on Simmons Drive in Orange, after a man jumped off the pier, into the water and did not reappear.

The body was recovered at approximately 5 a.m. Friday monring.

An autopsy will be conducted by Jefferson County Morgue.  

The City of Orange Police Department was assisted by the City of Orange Fire Department, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Service's District #3's Fire Department and Dive Team.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  

The investigation is on going.
