Three flee after gunshots fired at vehicle

ORANGE — Gunshots were heard near the 5000 block of Twin Oaks at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Orange Police were enroute to a call concerning someone knocking on the back door of a residence. An officer reported hearing about 20 gunshots east of the area while enroute. Another officer reported hearing shots near the VFW located at 5303 16th Street in Orange.

A vehicle was found stopped at the 5300 block of 16th Street. A man and his girlfriend reported they had been shot at by another vehicle.

The man said he saw the suspects while he, his girlfriend and another passenger were at Jack in the Box on 16th Street in Orange. Knowing he had trouble with the person, the man left the restaurant and started driving north on 16th Street.

The man said the suspects, driving a silver Nissan Titan pick-up with Louisiana plates, started shooting at their car near 16th and Clark Lane. The man believes his back rear tire was struck by gun fire according to police reports.

The man and his girlfriend fled on foot in one direction while the other passenger fled in a different direction.

The man said the suspects followed them on foot while continuing to fire at them.

The back tire and a front tire were flat. The back glass of the vehicle was shattered and two bullet holes were found inside the vehicle with 10 shell casings found at the scene.

The passenger was not located at the time to make a statement.
