2 arrested for drug possession during traffic stop

ORANGE — Orange County Sheriff's Narcotics Deputies arrested two for drug possession after stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile marker 864.

After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Deputies observed drug paraphernalia, specifically a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine, inside of the vehicle in plain view.  A search of the vehicle revealed two ounces of methamphetamine and a quantity of LSD according to a press release.

The driver of the vehicle Timothy Scott Murphy, 34, from Orange was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.  

His bond was set at $30,000.

A passenger, Kasi Risinger,  26, from Orange, was arrested for possession of marihuana, a class B misdemeanor.

Her bond was set at $1,000.

Both Murphy and Risinger remain in custody at the Orange County Jail.

Narcotics officers with the Orange Police Department also assisted with the investigation.

Sheriff Merritt said the Sheriff's Office will continue to devote its efforts to help keep illegal drugs out of the community.
