ORANGE — Service, character building, and inclusiveness are the tenants of a new organization that has formed at West Orange Stark Middle School.

The West Orange-Stark Builders Club, the middle school affiliate of Key Club and Kiwanis, officially received its charter from Kiwanis International this spring.

The Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students, with more than 45,000 members worldwide.

Members learn to work together and develop servant-leaders skills as they serve their school and community. In partnership with UNICEF and March of Dimes, the clubs are able to expand their outreach to infants and children of the world.

West Orange-Stark Middle School Builder’s Club President Isom Colbert said, “Our club plans to collaborate closely with Mr. Moten, our principal, in identifying areas of need and opportunities for service on our campus and in the community.”

Builders Club is a student-led community service organization that follows school regulations and draws members from the student body. The Kiwanis Club of Orange serves as the club’s sponsor.
