LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School UIL Prose/Poetry team has truly had a banner year. The group departed for Sam Houston State University this past weekend for the 4A Region III Contest. The students reached this level of competition by placing in the top three, for their respective category, at the District 20-4A meet last month. Three of the four LC-M readers broke to finals with sophomore Triston Stringer placing sixth in Poetry, junior Jacob Richard taking third in Prose, and junior Haley Wright was the Region Champion in Prose, placing first. Wright and Richard will now advance to the 4A State Contest at the University of Texas, in May. They are two of only twelve Prose readers left in the state of Texas in Conference 4A. The students are coached by LC-M Theatre Director Cory Broom.
