Catholic Daughters of the Americas education contest winners announced

ORANGE — Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Cecilia #1396 sponsored their annual education contest. The following students received 1st place in the Art category; Division I (4th and 5th grade), Amiyah LeBlanc and Division II (6th, 7th and 8th grade), Olivia Fuselier. For the essay category; Division II, 3rd place went to Elijah Vigil, 2nd place to Lydia Covington and 1st place to Megan Do. In the poetry category, Division I; Honorable Mention went to Jagger McCullom, 3rd place – Slade Foreman, 2nd place – Anthony Bandiero and 1st place – Emilie Mayfield. In Division II; Honorable Mention – Jenna McCorvy, 3rd place - Ian McHann, 2nd place – Bryce McAllister and 1st place - Lauren Abrego. In Division IV, for CDA members, Jackie Spears received 1st place for her photography entry and JoAnn Sparacino received 1st place for her poetry entry. All 1st place entries are sent to compete on the state level.

    Due to the demand for highly qualified teachers who have received face-to-face instruction by highly experienced master teachers, the Alternative Certification for Educators Program, the ACE program, at Lamar State College–Orange will restart in fall 2014 on a limited basis.
