LC-M football player nominated for All American

LITTLE CYPRESS —  Imagine being nominated for All American.

Marvis Brown III, 16, was not recognized for All-District or All-State, so the last thing he expected was an e-mail informing him he was nominated for All-American.

“It just said ‘You have been nominated’ and ‘good luck’,” Marvis said. “It shocked me. It came out of no where.”

Marvis just finished his Sophomore year at LC-M High School, stands 6’4.5” and weighs in at 305 lb.

His position on the field started as right-guard but more recently as right-tackle.

Marvis Brown Jr. said his son is a pancakes specialist on the field.

A pancake is block that takes the other player to the ground.

“It looks really good on film,” Brown Jr. said. “He is the most aggressive sophomore I have seen on the field.”

Dad and older brother, Tommy, evaluate each game to help Marvis improve his game.

Marvis has attended several football camps, some which are invite only.

At a recent camp while running an obstacle course, Marvis out ran a running back. The running back is suppose to be the fastest member of the team.

Marvis also plays basketball and throws the discus in track.

Marvis plans to study business in college while majoring in money management.

“I want to know how to manage my finances,” Marvis said. “I would like to open a business one day.”

Marvis said he may open a food chain.

“He can make the best strawberry cheesecake from scratch,” Brown Jr. said.

“I really like to play football,” Marvis said. “I want to go as far as I can, hopefully, one day the NFL.”
