(UPDATED Wed. 10:01 a.m.) List of weather-related closures for Tuesday

ORANGE — More bad weather is on the way to Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana and the impact is expected to be as severe or worse as the ice-related event was this past week.


All Orange County public school districts have announced closures for Tuesday, Jan. 28. This includes West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District, LC-M CISD, Vidor ISD, Bridge City ISD and Orangefield ISD. A decision on whether area districts will hold class on Wednesday or not is expected to come very soon.

St. Mary Catholic School of Orange has announced it will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan. 29). Community Christian School will be closed on Tuesday.

Lamar State College-Orange will be closed on Tuesday and will make a decision on Tuesday afternoon on whether to hold classes on Wednesday or not.

Other are school closures include PN-G ISD, Silsbee ISD, and Lumberton ISD.

McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Public schools in Calcasieu Parish, Cameron Parish, Allen Parish, Vernon Parish, Beauregard Parish and Jefferson Davis Parish will be closed both days as well.



The Grand Opening for the Orange County Convention and Expo Center has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 6.

All Orange County offices will be closed on Tuesday.

The City of West Orange announced per Waste Management all garbage collections will be picked up on Saturday.

The City of Pinehurst Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28 has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4.

City of Orange Economic Development Commission and the City of Orange Council meetings have been rescheduled for Thursday, January 30. The EDC meeting will be at 2 p.m. The City of Orange Council meeting will be at 2:30 p.m.


The Orange County Republican Party's debate for the candidates running for Orange County Judge, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Raymond Gould Community Center in Vidor, has been postponed. A new date is TBA.

    Dr. Jay Killgo, Superintendent of Schools for the Vidor Independent School District, was the guest speaker at the Vidor Friends of the Library meeting this past week. Killgo discussed goals for the upcoming year for Vidor ISD and shared success stories, such as improved test scores and student achievement.

  • Summer Camp Fun VISD offers fun summer camp events

    Boys in Vidor ISD Community Education’s summer basketball camp had a great time this past week learning skills and drills. Other camps, which are open to anyone, not just Vidor residents, this summer are cooking, animals, princess camp, pirates, girls’ volleyball, drama, arts and crafts, science, soccer, and running.
