ORANGE — New staff members have embraced their roles as leaders within West Orange – Cove Consolidated Independent School District, continuing the district’s transformation towards becoming an exceptional school district.

“As we continue to move forward, I am pleased that we have been able to continually hire highly competent and skilled leaders that will bring greater strength to our School District,” James Colbert, West Orange-Cove CISD superintendent, said.

At West Orange–Stark Elementary School, Principal Anya Miller worked with campus leadership throughout the summer to further enhance the elementary school’s programs.

“The time spent collaborating provided our team the opportunity to assess where we were and also allowed us the opportunity to plan the next actions to move our campus forward. It enabled us to look beyond the surface level of instruction to identify areas to strengthen our performance level,” Miller said.

She has a Master’s Degree in Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in French Education. Additionally, she is a certified principal and reading specialist. Miller has been an educator for 15 years.

Lane Emmett is the new Director of Transportation for West Orange-Cove CISD. Prior to the district, he served as a transportation consultant for the Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston. Additionally, he has 16 years of experience as Transportation Director for the Port Neches–Groves Independent School District. Prior to becoming the Transportation Director, Emmett taught industrial arts and drove a bus route, also for 16 years.

Since accepting the WO-C CISD position in July, Emmett has developed policies and procedures for the District Transportation department, interviewed and hired and/or rehired drivers, and addressed day-to-day operations associated with building and operating a transportation unit.

“Our transportation department has a very dedicated staff, made of dedicated drivers that take their job very seriously,” Emmett said.

Prior to the start of the school year, the West Orange-Cove CISD Transportation Department posted bus route times and stops on the district website. Rider rules are also posted.

Danielle R. Robinson is the new Director of Food Services for West Orange-Cove schools. Most recently, Robinson served as the Assistant Food Service Director at Lubbock Independent School District for Aramark K-12. The district has over 28,000 students and 51 schools.

“I am very excited to join the West Orange-Cove CISD team. I look forward to

supporting the teaching and learning by providing nutritious meals to the children,” Robinson said.

She is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and is actively involved in the Alumni Association.
