Be prepared, smart during hurricane season

ORANGE —

There are lessons to be learned from our neighbors to the immediate north in Oklahoma and this lesson has nothing to do with recruiting in college football.

The lesson is quite simple actually, do not tempt Mother Nature and her weather system.

Mother Nature will always win the game and most of the time she pitches a shutout.

Do not be a hero during this hurricane season. Do not tempt Mother Nature. There are no material possessions worth risking the life of yourself or anyone in your family.

Get out of the way of danger.

Hurricane Ike has been called in our area as “The Storm of a Lifetime.”

Just because we call the storm that does not mean Mother Nature is going to bypass our area when it comes time for hurricanes to head our way.

A storm can hit the same exact area 100 years in a row if the conditions are right. Mother Nature does not play favorites and give areas time to recover from the last disaster.

The folks in Oklahoma can confirm this fear.

So be smart this hurricane season and prepare yourself and be ready to help save lives in our communities.

The Orange Leader printed a special section last week with tips on how to be safe. If you would did not receive a copy please stop by our office and get a copy It is an interesting read from cover to cover.
