March ballots will decide local races

We don’t have a flashy campaign slogan like last year’s oddly popular “Vote or Die” message, or celebrities clamoring to tell you which candidate should get your vote. Heck, we don’t even have fliers or T-shirts.

All we can do is encourage you to perform your civic duty this coming Tuesday.

For those of you who missed your opportunity to cast early ballots, March 4 is your final chance to vote in the primary election.

Orange County residents will have the opportunity to vote not only during the primary, but also during November’s general election for the next United States President.

But that is not the case in our local races.

This March 4 primary will determine your next sheriff, commissioner and constable. As all candidates are running on a Democratic ticket, the buck will stop here. And your vote could be the deciding factor.

Sure, no candidate is perfect. But they all have positive attributes and something to bring to the table. If you have a candidate that you can relate to and you share their similar view points, don’t you think they deserve your support?

Our government, both locally and on the national scale, works best when all citizens express their voices and make their own choices.

Voting is an important right provided to all American citizens courtesy of our forefathers and every service man and woman who has ever fought to protect our freedom and civil liberties. But voting is something that is only effective when it is utilized.

Whether you cast a ballot for change or for continued success, make your voice heard this election season.

We’ll see you at the polls.
