ORANGE — Funeral services for Ina Elouise Day Arbuckle, 89, of San Antonio, formerly of Zavalla, will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Arbuckle was born January 1, 1925 in Canton, Texas, and passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Parklane West in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Arbuckle was raised in the small East Texas town of Zavalla in Angelina County. She graduated from Zavalla High School at fifteen and at sixteen married a wavy haired, blue eyed soldier boy, W.C. "Bill" Day. Her journeys in life carried her to Japan, Germany and most of the United States. She later settled in San Antonio, Texas and married Frank Arbuckle. She was employed by Southwestern Bell and Knowlton Creamery. She then had a successful career in real estate as agent/broker and home builder. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in law, Gary and LaNell Day of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Lola Day of Orange; grandchildren, Gary Day, Jr. and wife Carrie, Steve Day and wife Becky, and Mike Day and wife Becky; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Hart of Beaumont and Linda Spurlock of Fred; several nieces and nephews; and her "Promise Mate", John Currie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Arbuckle; parents, Ivan and Linnie (Norris) Wright; son, W.C. “Jerry" Day, Jr.; grandson, Jerry Junior Day; great-grandson, Zach Day; and brothers, Roy, Dan, Gene, and Charles Wright.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
